Protect Yourself and Our Community: Get your Measles Vaccine now
With recent cases of measles confirmed in the Wellington region, it’s more important than ever to make sure you and your whānau are protected. Measles spreads easily through coughing and sneezing — even before symptoms appear — but it’s also highly preventable with the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine.
Who should get vaccinated
Children: Two doses are free and recommended at 12 months and 15 months of age.
Adults born between 1969 and 2004: You may have only had one dose of MMR, and you need two doses of MMR to be fully protected.
The vaccine is free for everyone under 18, and for most adults eligible for publicly funded healthcare in New Zealand.
Why now?
Getting vaccinated now not only protects you, but it also helps stop the spread of measles to vulnerable people — including babies, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems.
How to get vaccinated
You can book your MMR vaccine through Willis Medical — just give us a call on 04 555 0740 and ask to speak with a Nurse. Vaccination is quick, free (for most people), and provides lasting protection.
